Requiem for The Man From Earth

Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth is, in fact....

Dun-dun-duuuun!

Star Trek's "Requiem for Methuselah".

Written by... are you ready for this? Jerome Bixby.

I know I've had this talk with people about writers stealing from themselves. Tacky!

  1. Well, I'll have to respectfully disagree. While some might call this "stealing from themselves", others might view this as an expansion of an idea that was introduced on Trek.

This film had won numerous awards and was even nominated for a Saturn Award. If you haven't seen the movie, I suggest picking up a copy and you will see that it is very, VERY different from the Star Trek episode (which we have not hidden the connection between the movie and the ST episode in any interview we did promoting the film).

Thanks for at least mentioning the film.

    Sincerely,

    Eric D. Wilkinson

  2. Here, here. I agree with Eric Wilkinson. Sherlock Holmes anyone? Dune, anyone? All started as small ideas which blossomed. I, for one find it fascinating. As for Methuselah? This is nothing like it, except for man from before the common era. I am here to say to Mr. Wilkinson, that is a most well done film. It is much appreciated. Thank you.
